Fly anywhere on Mexicana's network in the next month - and you could win a trip for two right around the world

09 November 2009

Book and fly anywhere on Mexicana in the next four weeks - and you could end up taking a trip of a lifetime all the way around the world.

To celebrate its addition to the oneworld® alliance tomorrow the airline is launching a special competition, open to all its customers, with two top prizes - each of a pair of round-the-world tickets.

The two top winners will each be able to take a companion on an unforgettable journey right around the world - with US$2,500 spending money in their pockets.

They could travel from Mexico to Buenos Aires (in Argentina), then on to Sydney (Australia), up to Bangkok (Thailand), continuing to London (UK) before returning home via Madrid (Spain), travelling all the way on Mexicana's new oneworld airline partners - American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Malév Hungarian Airlines, Qantas and Royal Jordanian.

Between them, these airlines serve almost 700 destinations in nearly 150 countries, with a combined fleet of some 2.250 aircraft operating more than 8.000 flights a day.

oneworld is the only alliance with member airlines based in every continent (excluding Antarctica), and the only alliance with carriers from South America, Australia or Asia's Middle East.

So the lucky winners will have an unrivalled airline route network from which to choose.

The "Win round-the-world trips with Mexicana and oneworld" promotion is open to anyone buying tickets for flights or tour packages with Mexicana, MexicanaClick or MexicanaLink from tomorrow (10 November) until 10 December - using cash, credit cards or even MexicanaGo or Frecuenta miles.

To be eligible, tickets must be bought in Mexico, from any Mexicana sales office or travel agency - and travel, to any domestic or international destination served by Mexicana, MexicanaClick or MexicanaGo, started by 10 December.  To be in with a chance to win, customers must register at www.mexicana.com/viajaporelmundo and answer a few simple questions about Mexicana and oneworld.  The two participants answering the most questions correctly in the fastest time will win the top prizes.

Mexicana Chief Commercial Officer Isaac Volin said: "What better way to highlight the amazing worldwide network that Mexicana can now offer our customers through our membership of the oneworld alliance than by offering our passengers a chance to try out that network themselves by flying right around the world with our great new partners."

Mexicana and its affiliates MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink become part of oneworld from midnight tonight - adding Mexico and Central America's leading airline to the world's leading quality airline alliance.

As of tomorrow, members of the MexicanaGO frequent flyer programme can earn and redeem mileage awards on all oneworld partners, who include some of the biggest and best airlines in the world.

MexicanaGO Conquer and Discover cardholders have oneworld Emerald and Sapphire status respectively, gaining them access to some 550 airport lounges worldwide offered by the alliance's airlines.  Mexicana Explore cardholders have oneworld Ruby status.

Also from midnight tonight, the 100 million members of the established oneworld airlines' frequent flyer programmes will be able to earn and redeem awards and tier status points and receive all other oneworld benefits on Mexicana and its two affiliates.

At the same time, the Mexicana group network is added to oneworld's market-leading range of alliance fares - for trips right around the world, across several continents or through just one continent.

oneworld was voted the World's Leading Airline Alliance for the seventh year running in the latest (2009) World Travel Awards.   It is the only winner of this award since it was introduced in 2003.
