Job Objective:

The ‘Reporting and Data Manager’ is the management team’s resource for business intelligence and insights needed to support strategic decision making and keep a pulse on alliance performance. Reporting to the ‘VP, Finance & Administration’, the role is best suited to a self-starter who has a passion for telling a story through data, can comfortably work independently and can collaborate concurrently with multiple stakeholders. Key responsibilities will support the central management team through:

  • Collection, maintenance and reporting of data to measure alliance performance
  • Analysis of alliance network planning scenarios
  • Reporting and modeling support for the central management team including customer experience, marketing, membership, commercial/ corporate sales and digital

Suitable candidates will possess the following proficiencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to comfortably handle large data sets and distill that information into meaningful outputs
  • Experience with business intelligence tools utilising SQL such as Tableau and PowerBI is essential
  • Strong planning skills, and ability to independently prioritize work from a number of stakeholders located throughout the globe
  • Self-starter with a disciplined approach to achieving results and the ability to build strong relationships
  • A master communicator with the ability to explain complex concepts across all levels of the business, including the succinct conveyance of matters to board level executives
  • Multi-language capabilities and experience in international markets and work environments is a definite asset

Key Accountabilities:

  • Wide-ranging network planning analysis, including (but not limited to):

    • Forecasting traffic and revenue flows for airline route networks, scheduling, codeshare and membership scenarios
    • Quantitative assessment of revenue impacts related to addition of new members
    • Assessment of current and potential alliance network connectivity
    • Research and analysis on prospective member and competitors including codeshare analysis for the alliance and the industry
  • Maintenance of databases which support alliance reporting and measurement of performance metrics to support the following responsibilities:

    • Traffic and revenue flows for the airline industry overall and for specific carriers
    • Provide analysis and strategic input to help identify key markets and business activities
    • Independently produce periodic reporting to key stakeholders
    • Ensure accurate dashboard reporting is sustained and continuous improvements are made in-step with stakeholders
    • Produce alliance board reporting demonstrating key alliance metrics, including the ability to identify and articulate critical insights and executive summaries
    • Design, maintain and execute highly-disciplined processes to ensure data integrity, accuracy and timely delivery
  • Assist the Partnership Optimisation team to produce accurate and perceptive responses to opportunities presented by member airlines, new airline candidates, airport authorities, etc.

  • Develop operational business cases, board papers and presentation materials with meaningful insights
  • Coordinate with business leads to update oneworld’s annual KPI performance dashboard
  • Other ad-hoc requirement and analysis as needed

Skills, Experience, And Qualifications:

oMC core competencies (see below) plus:

  • University degree required with a major, or concentrated studies, in Marketing, Business, Transportation, Finance/Economics, Math, Operations Research, or a similar area
  • Prior airline experience in Planning, Scheduling, Finance, Revenue Management or Research departments is an asset
  • Excellent quantitative analysis skills are essential and experience managing SQL servers and business intelligence tools such as Tableau or PowerBI
  • Prior experience using network modeling “QSI” tools, IATA AirportIS or other scheduling and network planning platforms will be favorably considered
  • Strong written and verbal English skills, including the ability to express complex issues clearly and simply
  • Expert Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills are a must
  • The ability to confidently work with large amounts of data is required, including a demonstrated ability to document work processes while ensuring integrity and organisation of work products is maintained

  • Strong planning and organizational skills, preferably with solid experience in an airline commercial or operational environment
  • Excellent team player who enjoys a fast-paced work environment and is comfortable with dynamic objectives in an evolving industry
  • Comfort in taking direction and input from many stakeholders, understanding the role is in a central team which provides analytics throughout the alliance’s operational functions
  • Working within the finance and administration team, be willing to proactively undertake responsibilities as required
  • Solid communications skills, which include excellent relationship building capabilities
  • Capable of applying a disciplined and methodical approach to work in a complex matrix organizational structure
  • Strategic thinker with the capability of simplifying and communicating complex concepts and situations
  • Proven experience of working cross-culturally and cross-functionally
  • Self-directed and able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision, technically competent to function with minimal administrative support
  • Preferred but not mandatory:
    • Multi-lingual capabilities especially Spanish, Japanese, Chinese or Russian
