oneworld™, the leading global airline alliance – comprising LanChile, American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, and Qantas – has appointed Gundula Schulz-Pedersen as its new Area Sales Manager for Austria, Germany and Sweden.

Together oneworld's members generated more than US$50 billion of revenue globally last year, with the alliance's sales activities in Austria, Germany and Sweden and around the world making a significant contribution to the overall financial benefit the alliance delivers to its eight member airlines – expected this year to total approaching US$1 billion through revenue generation, protection and feed, and savings from joint purchasing and shared airport and city facilities.

oneworld airlines currently serve 572 destinations in 135 countries and territories, with more than 8.500 flights every day – that's the equivalent of an aircraft taking off or landing every five seconds right around the clock. oneworld's member airlines have recently completed or are midway though multi-million dollar programmes to ensure they maintain their lead in delivering quality customer service, such as American Airlines' "More Room in Coach" initiatives and British Airways' flat beds in Club World.

Gundula joins the oneworld team with immediate effect, on secondment from member Iberia. She succeeds Pedro Torres, who has returned to the Spanish carrier to take up a new appointment. A fluent speaker of German, English, Spanish and French, she will be based in Hamburg, leading the alliance's sales activities across the three countries, working closely with the teams in the alliance's eight airlines, reporting to oneworld's Regional Sales Manager Europe, Middle East and Africa Neil Harrison.

She held a number of commercial roles in her five years with Iberia, including corporate sales and most recently implementing a worldwide agency incentive programme. Before joining the airline, she worked in various travel agencies in Germany covering a number of management responsibilities. Born in Germany she has lived in Madrid and Lima. She is a graduate in Business Studies from the University of in Munich
