oneworld is best airline alliance, says top business travel website

21 Dezember 2011

oneworld® has been named Best Airline Alliance by a leading independent business travel news website.

It is the first time Australian Business Traveller has presented awards - and believed to be the first such award presented by any organisation based in the southern hemisphere.

Earlier this month oneworld received the Best Airline Alliance for the second year running from US-based Global Traveler in the leading business travel magazine's GT Tested Reader Survey 2011 Awards.

oneworld is also current holder of the World Travel Awards' World's Leading Airline Alliance title, retaining that award for the eighth year running.

This means that oneworld now holds three of the top five awards presented internationally to airline alliances.

Australian Business Traveller's judging panel said: "Overseas-bound business travellers appreciate the value of an international alliance, and for Australians oneworld remains the clear winner.

"In addition to founding member Qantas, oneworld has four member airlines in Aussie skies - British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines and LAN - each with prime business destinations as their home turf, and Malaysia Airlines lined up for entry in the latter half of 2012.

"Add American Airlines and Finnair into the mix, with airberlin and India's Kingfisher joining in early next year, stir in some of the world's best airport lounges, and oneworld's appeal to the business traveller is undeniable."

oneworld's individual member airlines also flew high in Australian Business Traveller's awards, announced today.

Qantas was named its best airline and took top honours for both international and domestic lounges while British Airways took the trophy for best international First Class seat.

The judges comprised an independent panel of 12 business travellers and frequent flyers along with the website's editorial team.
