oneworld® has been named the World's Leading Airline Alliance 2011 in the World's Travel Awards - described by the Wall Street Journal as the "travel industry's equivalent of the Oscars". oneworld erhält diese Auszeichnung bereits im neunten Jahr in Folge.
It means that oneworld now holds three of the leading international awards for global airline alliances. In December, it was voted the Best Airline Alliance for the second year running in leading business travel magazine Global Traveler's GT Tested Reader Survey 2011 Awards. Later last month, oneworld was honoured as Best Airline Alliance 2011 in the debut awards presented by influential website Australian Business Traveller.
oneworld member airlines also flew high in the 2011 World Travel Awards, with Cathay Pacific taking the prize for the World's Leading Economy Class, British Airways for the World's Leading First Class Lounge, American Airlines for the World's Leading Travel Website and member elect Malaysia Airlines for the World's Leading Airline to Asia.
oneworld Vice-President Michael Blunt said: "oneworld aims to be the first choice alliance of frequent global travellers the world over - so we are thrilled to have been judged the best in three of the five leading international awards in the past year. We will continue to work hard on behalf of our customers into the future."
The World Travel Awards 2011 were presented at a ceremony in Doha, Qatar, based on votes cast by more than 200,000 travel agents and other travel professionals in 160 countries worldwide.
